Modern Slavery Policy

Our commitment to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking and forced labour in our operations and supply chains.

Last updated: 20 August 2026

1. Purpose and commitment

Canzuki Limited is committed to preventing and eliminating modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour in all its forms throughout our business operations and supply chains. We operate a zero-tolerance approach and are dedicated to acting ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all our business dealings in New Zealand and globally.

2. Scope and definitions

This policy applies to all employees, directors, contractors, and suppliers of Canzuki Limited. Under New Zealand’s Crimes Act 1961, modern slavery encompasses severe exploitation, including:

  • Forced and compulsory labour: work performed involuntarily under the menace of penalty.
  • Human trafficking: arranging or facilitating the travel or movement of others for exploitation.
  • Debt bondage: pledging personal services as security for a debt.
  • Child labour: employing children in hazardous work, or work that interferes with their schooling and wellbeing.

3. Our operations and supply chain

We are committed to understanding our supply chains and conducting ongoing due diligence. Canzuki Limited expects our suppliers, contractors, and business partners to share our commitment to human rights by:

  • Ensuring fair remuneration, safe working conditions, and voluntary labour.
  • Cascading these standards to their own supply networks.
  • Complying with the New Zealand Government Supplier Code of Conduct where applicable.

4. Human resources and employee rights

We uphold fair employment practices and promote a safe working environment. All employees have the right to freely choose their employment and to terminate it with reasonable notice.

What we do not do

We do not retain passports, withhold wages, or charge recruitment fees.

5. Raising concerns and whistleblowing

Canzuki Limited encourages all staff, customers, and suppliers to report any actual or suspected incidents of modern slavery. Reports can be made in confidence to your direct manager or to info@canzuki.com.

We are committed to ensuring that no one suffers any detrimental treatment or retaliation as a result of raising a genuine concern.

6. Review and monitoring

We will periodically review this policy to ensure it remains effective, compliant with emerging New Zealand legislation — including the Modern Slavery Bill, currently before the Education and Workforce Select Committee — and aligned with guidance from the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.
